Frequently asked questions

The binding details are the ones on the tour you open and in your booking confirmation.

Free walking tours

What is a free walking tour?+

A guided walk you reserve for nothing. At the end you pay the guide what the tour was worth to you. The guides live on that tip, so plan for one; a reservation you do not use costs the guide a place.

Why do free tours appear on some cities and not on others?+

A city gets its own free-tour section once at least three free walking tours are on offer there. Below that the page lists none: a single free tour among booked walks would be an accident of the day rather than a choice.

Do I have to book a free tour?+

Reserve it. Most free tours cap the group size, and the guide plans for the number of people who booked. Reserving also gives you the meeting point and start time in writing.

Guided walks and private tours

How do I know the guide speaks English?+

Every tour on this site is led live by a human guide in English; that is what the badge on the card verifies. Confirm the language for your date on the tour page before you finish booking.

Are bus, boat and bike tours included?+

No. This site lists live-guided tours on foot. Bus and boat tours, audio guides and self-guided app tours are different products and are not mixed in.

What is the difference between a group walk and a private tour?+

A group walk takes travellers from different bookings together. A private tour is booked for your own group only, and you agree the start time, pace and emphasis with the guide.

Booking and changes

Where does the walk start?+

Meeting point and start time depend on the tour you choose. They are on the tour page and again in your confirmation.

Where do I see the price and availability?+

Price and rating are on the card; availability is on the tour page, where you check date, language, group size and the total before you pay.

Can I change or cancel a booking?+

That follows the conditions of the tour you booked. After booking, the partner named in your confirmation handles changes and refunds.

Who do I tell about an error on this site?+

Use our contact page. For an existing booking, contact the partner in your confirmation.
